Product details

Products Description

Betulinic acid widely exists in the plant kingdom, including Araliaceae (Acanthopanax root bark), Betaceae (white birch bark, weeping birch bark, sweet birch bark), rosemary, Yunnan licorice, wild jujube, etc. Both contain a certain amount of Betulonic Acid. Kintai's Betulonic Acid uses betulin as a precursor, which is transformed into Betulonic Acid by microorganisms.

In recent years, scientific research has found that BA is a very valuable natural product. As biological agents, BA and its derivatives have shown great potential in anti-cancer and HIV treatment, play an important role in the body's anti-oxidative damage and immune regulation process, and are a class of promising drug lead compounds. It is of great value for the development of new drugs.

Benefits

1)Antioxidant stress activation

BA has a protective effect on normal cells and the body, which is related to antioxidant stress. For example, Betulonic Acid has protective effects on ischemia-reperfusion injury in the brain, kidneys, and heart. BA has protective effects on cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury in mice through antioxidant stress, anti-nitrogen stress, and increased blood flow.

2) Anti-inflammatory effect

Most pentacyclic triterpenes have anti-inflammatory activities. Both betulin and Betulonic Acid have mild anti-inflammatory properties at higher concentrations, and their anti-inflammatory properties may depend on their inhibition of protein kinase C, without involving any neurogenic inflammatory mechanisms. There are also studies indicating that its activity is the result of interaction with glucocorticoid receptors.

The anti-inflammatory effect of Betulonic Acid has been verified in vitro and in vivo model systems. Betulonic Acid can inhibit the production of PGE2 and alleviate inflammatory reactions.

3) Bacteriostatic effect

It has been found that Betulonic Acid has a certain antibacterial effect, which can inhibit a variety of bacteria including Escherichia coli, Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus, and Staphylococcus epidermidis. However, studies have shown that its antibacterial activity is weak, which may be related to its belonging to lupine pentacyclic triterpenes, its structure is similar to that of hopane pentacyclic triterpenes, and the presence of substances on the bacterial membrane that can biosynthetically synthesize hopane pentacyclic triterpenes. Based on the existing research on the antibacterial ability of Betulonic Acid, its potential as an antibacterial agent is small.

4) Anti-tumor effect of Betulonic Acid

Betulonic Acid was first found to have extremely strong selective cytotoxicity in melanoma cells. In recent years, it has also been found to have a strong broad-spectrum activity to other tumor cells, such as glioblastoma, neuroblastoma, neuroblastoma, Ewing tumor and other malignant tumors, colon cancer, breast cancer, lung cancer, liver cancer, prostate cancer, kidney cell Ovarian or cervical cancer and leukemia have strong inhibitory effects.

5) Antiviral effect

Betulonic Acid has prominent antiviral activity, especially HIV activity, and has effective effects on anti-hepatitis C virus, anti-herpes simplex virus, anti-Eico virus, and anti-influenza virus.

Application

1. Application in cosmetics

(1) Skin whitening effect: low-concentration Betulonic Acid can be used as a skin conditioning aid, and it can be used in combination with ascorbic acid to promote the production of cortical collagen;

(2) Use in hair products can promote hair growth;  Betulonic Acid has anti-inflammatory and anti-skin allergy effects, and it can reduce skin irritation when used in high SPF sunscreen lotion.

2. Medicine field

BA is a very valuable natural product. As biological agents, BA and its derivatives have shown great potential in anti-cancer and HIV treatment, play an important role in the body's anti-oxidative damage and immune regulation process, and are a class of promising drug lead compounds. It is of great value for the research and development of new drugs, and the NCI of the American Cancer Institute has included it in the Rapid Research and Development Program (RAID).

Safety

CTFA uses Betulonic Acid as a cosmetic raw material, and it is included in the 2010 edition of the "International Cosmetic Raw Material Standard Chinese Name Catalogue" issued by the China Fragrance Association. Included, there is no report that it is unsafe for external use.

The above three reference formulas are all developed based on the anti-oxidation, moisturizing, and anti-aging effects of Betulonic Acid. At the same time, when using Betulonic Acid, it is necessary to pay attention to controlling the dosage and matching other ingredients reasonably to fully exert its efficacy and ensure the safety and stability of the product.

Dosage

The dosage of Betulonic Acid is generally 0.1%~1.0%. In the formulation, it can be used in combination with other natural ingredients such as vitamin E, honey, aloe vera, green tea, licorice, etc. to form creams, lotions, essences, and other products with multiple functions such as maintenance, soothing, moisturizing, and anti-aging.

Advantages of KINTAI to produce this product

Introduction of three extraction methods of Betulonic Acid

  • First, it is extracted and isolated from natural plants. This method consumes a lot of solvents, the yield is low, and the impurities are not easy to separate, so it is rarely used;

  • Second, Betulonic Acid was obtained through organic synthesis using betulin as a precursor. This method has been applied in industrial production, and industrial-scale Betulonic Acid can be obtained, which is the main source of Betulonic Acid in the market now;

  • Third, use betulin as a precursor to produce Betulonic Acid through microbial conversion. This approach represents a new direction for the future plant extraction industry and is the main advantage of KINTAI in producing this product.
